CATHOLIC WORK WEEK

Tony Caruso wants to thank the following for working at a variety of tasks during the recent Catholic Heart Work Week: George Kelly, Bill Eaton, Jack Holmes, Dick Bachner, Charlie & Vickie Durkee, Tom Murphy, Brent Tracy, Ernie Gallinari, Bill Jaillet, Phil Pescarino, Jerry Doyle, Tom Algie, Dave Renie, and the "mechanics" of the sites Tim Lois, Dick Solak, and Bob Pangione; as well as others like Joe Buougiorno, who volunteered, but did not participate because we finished the jobs sooner than anticipated. You were "marvelous!" I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The names of the persons we helped were Lucille Shaw, Bessie Edwards, Ernestine Bulter and Thomas Frazier, all of whom live in Bluffton. We clocked 261 hours, averaging over 9 hours per individual. Well done and thank you for demonstrating why we are the best Council in South Carolina.

DINNER DANCE & SILENT AUTION
The Council will have their annual Columbus Day Dance on Friday, October 17th, chaired by Joe and Dottie Gariti and Brent and Catherine Tracy.  This year it will be a
dinner dance at Moss Creek with live music provided by the Ray Cummings Group.  As an additional attraction, we will also be having a "silent auction".  In order to have a successful dinner/dance and, hopefully, make money for our charities, we will need the Knights to both attend the dinner dance and to sell tickets to  friends and associates.

We view the "silent auction" as a fun event as well as a potential money maker.  However, we will need the Knights to contribute items for the "silent auction" and to solicit local businesses.
In order to co-ordinate the solicitation of businesses and avoid duplication of calls on businesses, Jim and Bettie Coyle and Rob and Kate Lang have agreed to co-ordinate and act as a ''clearing house" for the solicitation and to collect donations. Please contact either of them directly for the making of donations and prior to soliciting local businesses.

COUNCIL TO PURCHASE AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR FOR ST. ANDREW HALL

At the last business meeting it was proposed that we purchase an Automated External Defibrillator for St Andrew Hall.  We said we would check on the price and also see if the parish would be willing to split the cost.  The parish agreed to split the cost.  The cost for the basic unit, with medical direction, $1550.00; Infant/child pads are $76.00 and a wall mount bracket is $71.20 for a total of $1697.00. Our half would be $848.60.

This notice is also being posted on our website for the council to review and we will put this on the floor for a vote at the next business meeting in July.
